It's weird looking a photo of this dead woman with her kids. She's dead, I am alive and well. Here I am, right as rain, not a care in the world, living in one of the richest countries on Earth.

You said she knew her time was near: I wonder how she felt during those final days... It's so crushingly, desperately sad that women like her grow up in grinding poverty, indeed live their whole lives knowing nothing but poverty, and then die in poverty. This is a sick, sick world. What keeps you going? You must get points where you think, "I can't cope with this anymore." Woman like her die every day, and the world does nothing but yawn.

What gets me most of all is the attitude of people here where I live: they couldn't care less, and I know that because they don't do anything. Talk is cheap, anyone can say anything they want. It is ACTION which tells you the measure of a person.

Well done to you and your small but ACTIVE team in Mozambique. You are an all-too-rare light in the darkness.

Hi John,
I just got a letter from your mother today after not hearing from her for over a year, so glad to hear she is doing ok. In her news letter she gave your web site so just wanted to tell you hi and let you know we will be praying for your work with the boys.

I have had my mother (Eva) living with us since last June 2008. She is failing but still enjoys to eat - ha! but that is good. Her short term memory is not good either, but she is glad to be with me.

Please don't forget to pray for America. I am proud we have elected a black President but so disappointed that he is so liberal in his beliefs. (for abortion and gay marriage). I don't believe God can bless America when people ignore the Bible's teachings. It scares me that the liberals are trying to make America a Socialistic Society. This all reminds me of Jeremiah when he kept telling the people of Jerusalem to turn from their sins, but the people would not listen and then God allowed the Babylonians to take them over. Oh well, God is in control.

Paul and I had two children, Shelley and Troy and they have given us 6 Grandchildren. (3 boys and 3 girls). Their ages are between 18 and 8. We have a great time with the grandchildren.

We had a minister from South Africa, Dede Bacon. His parents came to visit and I mentioned your story and marriage to Gale and believe it or not they knew her parents and knew all about her accident, but this was a few years ago. We have since moved and go to another church so don't see Dede any more. I just thought this was so interesting.

Hope this finds you well. May God bless and keep you always.

Love,
Georganne

Wow John.. I'm just sick about Joao! If there is anyway to help that you know of...
Not trying to shortchange God's ability to bring about a resolution that is equitable, But, If being like a roman to a roman here might mean considering making a donation as is there tradition (obviously not ours)I would be willing to help. It's hard not to think of it as rewarding evil, but it may be a nesessary one to recover Joao's fate. Just an offer, not a suggestion on how to deal with the situation. That is obviously left in your hands to walk in obedience to what God is availing to you.
And yes, we are praying for all of you!
Peace
